Bugtracker moved to its own domain

I've moved the bugtracker to its own domain: http://bugs.xexpress.org. Since there is no Postnuke integration anymore, this means that in the future you will have to register yourself in order to add or review a bug. All existing accounts however remain so the bugtracker can be accessed with your Postnuke credentials if you already have accessed the bugtracker.

Download a nightly CVS tarball

As promised, I said I would look into the nightly tarball offering and I did.
Since lots of people were having problems understanding how to get the CVS version, there certainly was a need to create a tarball automatically.
As of now, every night at midnight, a tarball is created from the CVS and made available for download. You can find the link at the frontpage.

As some of you may have read, a real book called "Postnuke Content Management" has been release by Sams Publishing. It's been written by Kevin Hatch. You can find the announcement at the postnuke Website.
I would like to recommend this book to any Postnuke user and btw it has a chapter on ContentExpress. :)

CVS server in a jailroot

Of course we want everything as secure as possible :) Therefor we've placed the cvs server inside a jailroot. Does this change something when you want to check out the CVS code. Actually it does a little bit. The location where to find the CVS repository has changed from /var/home/cvs/xexpress to /cvsroot/xexpress. That's it. Thus should you want to check out our code, you need to issue the following commands:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@xexpress.org:/cvsroot/xexpress login

It'll ask for a password, which you should leave empty. (Just press ).

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@xexpress.org:/cvsroot/xexpress co modulename

Where you replace the modulename with whatever module is residing in the repository.
Happy checking out.

CVS is back online

Our CVS repository is back online too. That means you can follow the latest code again.
Should you want the contents of this CVS repository you can follow the directions describe in the "Developers Pages" or should you just want to browse it, try that directly "online".

Now that the website is fully running again, means that we now have some time left to code again. Should you want to join our project and contribute in whatever way you see yourself fit, please, don't hesitate to contact us!

And then the final move...

You might want to ask how many times are they going to move their website. Well, this server is intented as the final destination. It's owned personally by BraveCobra.com and thus it gives the maximum of opportunities.

You'll see that the documentation is indeed back online. The CVS repository will follow shortly.
The project has been without development for some time now, but that doesn't mean it's dead. No, we sure have some nice extra ideas up our sleeve. Stay tuned!

Another and better server

The site was kinda slow sometimes. That's why our provider bought a newer and faster server. And we kinda benefit from that.
However XSLT support isn't installed yet, so for now the documentation stays offline for a while. We'll try to get that set straight as soon as possible. Also the CVS server will stay offline for a while. I'll try to get it up and running as soon as possible.
Stay tuned!

Project ownership transfer

It has been a difficult time for me this year in term of my real-life job. It is getting hard to find time to put into XExpress which IMHO would not be the best interest for the XExpress community. At the same time, bravecobra has demonstrated a great deal of professionalism in his work on improving XExpress and his commitment to make the entire project better. To keep this project going, it only make sense for me to step down and have bravecobra to continue the lead of this project.

We moved the bugtracker to Mantis

After extensively using the bugtracker that was provided by Sourceforge, we felt that we needed an alternative.
Our choice fell on Mantis.
So after moving all the reported bugs and feature requests, we now proudly present you a brand new interface for reporting us your bugs.
Get over there and start filing those bugreports (please, not too many ;))

ContentExpress Dev Team expansion...

ContentExpress has been a success right from the beginning. Gradualy the module gained more and better code, adding new features and content possibilities for Postnuke.
Apart from the fact that we'll be adding more features, pretty soon we'll be going Xaraya style too.
So the CE Dev team is looking for more developers to make ContentExpress THE module for a CMS!

If you feel up to the challenge, have yourself added to the CE Dev team now and contact me.

It is tested with CE 1.2.4.9, and it works as well with Static_Docs with a little patch.

You can download it at postnuke.lottasophie.de. No need to register before downloading, but to participate in the forums.

German Content Express Tutorial

I just finished a short tutorial for Content Express: Erste Schritte mit Content Express (First Steps in Content Express) - It explains the basic structure and functions of Content Express and guides the reader to publish a first article along with a link in the Menu Express block. Finally it explains how to add a picture to the article.

As I wrote it for the German Postnuke Handbook at post-nuke.net it's in German, but feel free to translate it. It's published under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.
